Scientific progress How today's attention-based economic model promotes the spread of false news through competitive news media
This study examines the phenomenon of news media releasing false information in order to compete for public attention, and proposes a quantitative model to analyze the pros and cons. The study finds that the media tends to use inflammatory language and even create fake news, driven by the "attention economy".
